How to remove protective plastic capsules.
Use a sharp knife & gently wedge it into the edge where the front & back meet.
Wiggle the knife blade little by little around the edge - the capsule will open.
Gently, slowly, carefully works great - don't injure yourself trying to use force!

Notes on Gold & Gold Plating
Pure gold is 24K - although pure gold is very soft - bends and scars easily.
Also Extremely expensive! A 14K piece is 14 parts pure gold in 24 parts total alloy.
10K is 10 parts pure gold in 24 parts total alloy. The type of metals the gold is melted with
determines the tone or color of a piece.
Plating ( Gold, Silver, Nickel, etc. ) is an electro-chemical process that causes
a very thin layer of pure gold ( or other metals ) to adhere to a 'prepared' piece of metal.
For medallions, the best results are from medallions that are thicker at manufacture,
so the stamping can provide higher and deeper markings. When the plating is added,
the letters & markings will be 'sharper' than if a standard thickness coin is used.
